Indulgent getaway on the Spice Island

Zanzibar – a region of land in the Republic of Tanzania that includes the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba which are about 50 km off the coast of Tanzania. The capital of Zanzibar and its largest city is Zanzibar City. The old town of the capital is Stone Town and the main industry on the island is the spice industry and tourism. After breakfast, we will go on a tour of a local spice farm. During the tour we will get to know the green cocoa trees, with their sweet reddish fruits, the clove tree and its interesting blossoms and the cinnamon tree and its aromatic bark. We will also meet cardamom, ginger, mint and pepper bushes. There are also trees growing there whose fruits resemble special berries, a quick friction of the fruits in the palm of the hand produces an interesting foam from them, which according to the guide can be used as bath soap.

After that, we will go on a tour of Jozani Forest, which was nicknamed the monkey forest. Besides its attractive green appearance, it is a place of importance as it is a habitat for one of the rarest species of monkeys on the African continent. The red clobus monkeys are in danger of extinction and according to the researchers only about 1,500 monkeys of this species managed to survive today. A third of them reside in the Jozani forest, hence its importance.

After breakfast, we will go on a half-day tour of Stone Town – the old town of Zanzibar City, the capital city of the island of Zanzibar and the largest city on the island. The city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We will tour the winding streets of Stone Town and visit ancient palaces and impressive buildings such as the ancient fort, the House of Wonders, the Bramal building, the State House and more.

After breakfast, we will go to Safari Blue – a sailing day (shared) between the islands on a traditional boat. During the day we will visit the various islands, enjoy bathing in the blue lagoons and snorkeling in the ocean waters (equipment will be provided on the spot). Lunch is included.
