After breakfast, we will have a private/shared transfer to Puerto Montt Airport for a flight to Punta Arenas, the largest city in southern Patagonia.

Punta Arenas is situated on the shores of the Magellan Strait. This city historically served as an important port and supply base for ships seeking to navigate around the continent of America. However, after the opening of the Panama Canal, the number of vessels visiting the port declined, leading to a reduction in its prominence. Today, only ships departing for fishing in the Drake Passage and those traveling to Antarctica utilize its services. In recent years, with the discovery of oil in the region, Punta Arenas has experienced rapid development and is becoming a service center for drilling and refining, with a population of approximately 115,000 residents.

Upon arrival, we will embark on a shared drive of about 4 hours to Torres del Paine National Park, recognized as one of the most beautiful national parks in the world. The reserve is located on the southern side of the “Glacier Park” and spans hundreds of thousands of square kilometers. Established in the late 1950s, the park is named after its three towering granite peaks, which are visible from afar and symbolize the park.

Within the park, you can observe dozens of bird species (including the South American condor, the largest raptor in the world, along with ostriches, caracaras, flamingos, and many other waterfowl), as well as various types of wildlife, including guanacos (a type of antelope from the camel family similar to llamas) and the large wild rabbits of Patagonia.

After breakfast, we will embark on a day of private/shared hiking in the Torres del Paine National Park. This unique ecosystem is set against the stunning backdrop of the Andes mountains, featuring towering granite peaks that rise almost vertically to heights of over 2,000 meters above the Patagonian steppe. These peaks are topped with “hats” of metamorphic rock, soaring above a landscape rich with glaciers, forests, waterfalls, and lakes.

You will have the opportunity to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the park, taking in breathtaking views and experiencing the natural beauty of this remarkable region.
Overnight in the park.

This leg of the journey will take about 4 hours.

Upon arrival in El Calafate, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Later, we will embark on a private/shared drive along Lake Argentino to reach Perito Moreno Glacier, known as the “calving glacier,” which traverses Lake Argentino. This is the largest active continental glacier in the world and one of the most stunning glacial phenomena on the continent. The glacier rises 70 meters above the lake, creating a breathtaking sight.

Nature lovers and adventurers will find great interest in the dramatic landscapes of snow-capped mountains, impressive glaciers, and its proximity to Tierra del Fuego National Park and the Beagle Channel, where you can encounter diverse wildlife, including sea lions, cormorants, and possibly whales.
