Trip Summary
A customized 12-day Tanzania tour begins with our arrival at Kilimanjaro, followed by a visit to Arusha, Tanzania’s tourism capital, where we’ll explore Arusha National Park. Next, we travel to Lake Manyara, one of the Great Rift Valley lakes, and visit the remote and striking Lake Natron. From there, we journey into the vast Serengeti Reserve, where we’ll enjoy safari tours and observe unique wildlife. We continue to Ngorongoro Crater, descending to the crater floor for close encounters with Africa’s iconic wildlife. We then explore the area around Lake Eyasi, visiting local villages. Our adventure concludes with a visit to Tarangire National Park.

Day 1: Arrival - Kilimanjaro - Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival, you will meet your guide at the airport and take a transfer to Arusha (approximately 45 minutes drive).
Arusha is the central city of northern Tanzania and is considered the tourism capital of the country. In addition to its close proximity to safari areas, Arusha has much to offer on its own. The lush green surroundings, diverse cultures, vibrant markets, including the Maasai art market, sites of historical significance in African history, cultural institutions, small museums, and great restaurants enhance the city’s appeal.
The afternoon is free for your leisure. Dinner will be served at the hotel. Overnight in Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha National Park
After breakfast, you will embark on a tour of Arusha National Park. This beautiful park is known for its stunning landscapes, including the majestic Mount Meru, lush forests, and diverse wildlife. You may encounter various species of animals, including giraffes, zebras, and several types of monkeys, as well as a rich variety of birdlife.
Lunch is included during your visit.
Dinner and overnight stay in Arusha.
Day 3: Arusha - Lake Manyara
After breakfast, we will depart for a three-hour drive to Lake Manyara, one of the Great Rift Valley lakes located in Tanzania. This scenic area is known for its diverse wildlife, including hippos, monkeys, and unique tree-climbing lions, as well as pink flamingos and other fascinating animals that inhabit the region.
Lunch will be served at the lodge upon arrival.
In the afternoon, we will embark on a safari in Lake Manyara National Park, where you can explore the stunning landscapes and observe the rich wildlife.
Dinner and overnight stay in Manyara.
Day 4: Manyara - Lake Natron
After breakfast, we will depart for a drive to Lake Natron. This salt lake is located near the border with Kenya and is known for its striking landscape. The evaporation of the lake’s water leaves behind a mixture of salts and minerals, giving the lake its name, Natron. This unique area serves as an attractive breeding ground for flamingos and boasts impressive natural features.
In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore the surroundings or relax.
Lunch and dinner will be served at the lodge.
Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Natron - Serengeti
After breakfast, we will embark on a drive to the vast Serengeti National Park, known as “the endless plains” in Swahili. This park is the second largest in Tanzania, and is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including giraffes, elephants, antelopes, and all manner of predators.
The Serengeti is renowned for hosting the world’s last great migration, where entire herds of wildebeest and zebras migrate through the park in search of food, making their way towards neighboring Kenya.
Packed lunch will be provided during the journey.
As we travel, we will enjoy game drives and take in the changing landscapes of this stunning region.
Dinner will be served at the lodge.
Overnight stay in Serengeti.
Day 6: Serengeti - The Heart of the Savannah
After breakfast, we will set out to explore the vast grasslands of the Serengeti, where a diverse array of wildlife characterizes the African savannah of Tanzania. Here, we will encounter various animals, including herds of zebras and antelopes living side by side, as well as lions lounging in the shade.
Lunch will be served at the lodge.
In the afternoon, we will embark on another safari drive, providing opportunities for additional wildlife observations in Serengeti National Park.
Dinner will be served at the lodge.
Overnight stay in Serengeti.
Day 7: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater- Maasai Tribe
After breakfast, we will embark on a morning safari in the Serengeti National Park, observing a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat. Lunch will be included.
Following our time in the endless savanna plains, we will depart for the Ngorongoro Crater, which is approximately a two and a half hour drive away.
Ngorongoro Crater is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most beautiful attractions in northern Tanzania. The crater was formed around 2-3 million years ago due to a volcanic collapse, creating a natural habitat for diverse wildlife.
Upon arrival, we will visit a Maasai village located in Ngorongoro. The culture and traditional lifestyle of the Maasai have been preserved for generations, and they are well-known for their distinctive attire, particularly the red shuka. This is a rich and sophisticated society with developed human values.
Afterward, we will transfer to our lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we will descend 600 meters into the crater floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for a rich safari experience and a chance to encounter Africa’s wildlife up close. The crater, known for its stunning natural beauty, is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including lions, elephants, zebras, and the rare black rhino. As we explore the lush grasslands, swamps, and dense forests, keep your camera ready to capture the breathtaking scenery and the vibrant animal life.
A packed lunch will be included, allowing us to enjoy a meal surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.
Following our day of exploration, we will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 9: Ngorongoro - Lake Eyasi - Hadzabe and Datoga Tribes
After breakfast, we will embark on a journey to Lake Eyasi, a beautiful and serene location surrounded by stunning landscapes. Lunch will be served at the lodge upon arrival.
In the afternoon, we will visit the village of the Hadzabe tribe, renowned for their traditional lifestyle as hunter-gatherers. Here, we’ll have the unique opportunity to learn about their ancient customs, skills, and survival techniques in the wild. The Hadzabe people are known for their deep connection to nature and their sustainable way of life, which has been preserved over generations.
Next, we will head to the nearby village of the Datoga tribe, distinguished by their traditional practices, including distinctive facial markings and colorful attire. The Datoga are skilled blacksmiths and herders, and we’ll gain insights into their crafts and daily lives, as well as their rich cultural heritage.
After a day filled with cultural exploration and interaction with these fascinating tribes, we will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Lake Eyasi.
Day 10: Lake Eyasi - Tarangire
After breakfast, we will depart for Tarangire National Park. A packed lunch will be served at the lodge upon arrival.
In the afternoon, we will embark on a safari through the unique savannah of Tarangire. This park is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including impressive antelope species such as kudu and eland, the distinctive gerenuk, tree-climbing lions, hippos, and various herds of animals that either migrate to the park seasonally or reside here year-round. We will navigate through the park’s beautiful landscapes, dotted with ancient baobab trees and expansive grasslands.
After an exhilarating day of wildlife viewing, we will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation in Tarangire.
Day 11: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a morning safari in the Tarangire savanna, watching the wildlife awaken to a new day. A packed lunch will be served at the lodge.
In the afternoon, we will set out for another exciting safari in Tarangire, taking in the changing landscapes and observing the animals as they go about their evening routines.
Dinner and overnight stay in Tarangire.
Day 12: Tarangire - Arusha - Airport
After breakfast, we will drive back to Arusha. We will conclude our safari experience with lunch at a local restaurant.
Afterwards, depending on your flight schedule, we will transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
